Abstract

To achieve the goal of the study, the researcher used the experimental approach to a quasi-experimental design. The number of students was (25) and they studied the unit (Seas and Oceans) in the traditional way, and an experimental group numbered (25) students and they studied the same unit using the (SWOM) strategy. The study tool was a test of reading comprehension skills, which are (literal comprehension skill, deductive comprehension skill, and the skill of creative understanding) prepared by the researcher. Many appropriate statistical methods were used to analyze the data and test hypotheses, including: T-test for independent samples, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The results revealed the effectiveness of the SWOM strategy in developing reading comprehension skills among third-grade female students in Al-Kharj Governorate, as the size of the Eta square reached (0.740) to a very large degree. The results also showed that there was a statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between... The average scores of the members of the two groups (experimental and control) and that these differences were in favor of the experimental group. In light of these results, the study recommended a set of recommendations, the most important of which are: implementing the SWOM strategy and working to include it in the Arabic language curricula, preparing training courses and workshops in using the SWOM strategy targeting Arabic language teachers to train them in using the strategy, and studying the effectiveness of the SWOM strategy.
