The Relation between Self-Efficacy in responding to high risk situations and coping strategies among a sample of relapsed Addicts

Abstract

The aim of the current study is to reveal the relationship between self-efficacy in responding to high risk situations and coping strategies among a group of relapsed addicts. This study is conducted over a sample consisting of 42 relapsed addicts who depend on psychological material; all of them are males whose ages are ranging between 20 to 45 years old and they were divided into two groups. Each group consisted of 21 individual. The first group represents a group of addicts who relapsed after three months of treatment, while the second group represents addicts who relapsed after six months of treatment. The study used the following tools: List of self-efficacy in responding to high risk situations and a list of coping strategies. The results of the current study referred to the existence of a positive associative relationship which is statically significant between self-efficacy in responding to high risk situations and coping strategies among the sample members, in addition to the result of the second assumption which indicated that there is no significant differences between the group of addicts relapsed after three months and the group of addicts relapsed after six months as for self-efficacy in responding to high risk situations and coping strategies.
