Patterns of audience interaction with news pages on Facebook in times of crisis

Abstract

At a time when Egypt is witnessing many political, social, economic and cultural challenges, social networking sites have become dominant over the times and thoughts of the public, who now spends most of his time behind computer screens and mobile phones using these sites for purposes that vary according to their needs in their daily lives, and the site (Internet World stats) specialized in statistics of Internet users in Arab countries has published that Facebook is the pioneer, as its users reached 2.17 billion users.
Based on the importance of the role played by social networking sites during crises, and the increasing percentage of participants in the pages of private news sites, the need arose to study this research problem, which was represented in trying to identify the patterns of public interaction with news pages on the social networking site Facebook in times of crisis and the role of news pages on Facebook in providing the public with information in times of crisis.
