The role of digital leadership in confronting educational crises in Saudi universities

Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the theoretical foundations of digital leadership in universities, to explore the theoretical frameworks of educational crises in higher education and their relationship to digital leadership, to examine the role of digital leadership in addressing educational crises in Saudi universities, to understand the reality of digital leadership’s role in confronting educational crises in Saudi universities from the perspective of the research sample, and to provide recommendations and suggestions for the role of digital leadership in dealing with educational crises in Saudi universities. The research used the descriptive approach, with a questionnaire as the study tool. The study sample consisted of 300 department heads and faculty members from universities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The study concluded with several key findings, the most important of which are: the scarcity of specialized technical support teams to address technical problems in universities, the commitment of university leaders to be prepared to face crises, the development of digital scenarios to deal with anticipated crises in order to kaders to make swift electronic decisions related to crises when they occur, the importance of following up and coordinating with faculty members to manage crises via electronicagement, the commitment of university leaders to meet with faculty members to learn from future crises, the of conducting training programs for faculty members to update them on what has been faced in crisis management, and the lack of providing more specialists to the team to activate the containment of potential future crises.
