Gender differences in some sleep disorders in children People with autism disorder

Abstract

The current research aimed to identify differences between the sexes (males - females) in some sleep disorders (insomnia - hypersomnia - sleepwalking - night terrors - snoring) in children with autism spectrum disorder. The research sample consisted of (100) children with Autism spectrum disorder, with (58) males and (42) females, and the following tools were used: Gilliam scale for diagnosing autism spectrum disorder (third edition) Translation and codification: Adel Abdullah, Abeer Abu Al-Majd (2020), Stanford Bean scale The fifth image, codification and Arabization: Mahmoud Abu Al-Nil, 2011, and a sleep disorders scale for children with autism spectrum disorder prepared by researchers. The results of the study in the current research found that there were differences in favor of males in insomnia disorders, sleepwalking, snoring, and the total score, while results were found in The research showed differences in favor of females in hypersomnia disorders and night terrors in children with autism spectrum disorder. In light of the above, the research presented a set of recommendations and proposed future studies.
