Abstract

The study aimed to identify the degree to which middle school leaders in Jeddah Governorate practice the possible leadership style. The study also aimed to reveal the statistically significant correlation between the degree to which school leaders practice the possible leadership style، and to reveal the statistically significant differences between the average responses of teachers regarding their assessment of the degree to which school leaders practice the possible leadership style، which is attributed to the differences in the variables (gender and years of experience). To achieve the study objectives، the researchers used the quantitative approach in its (survey) style. To collect data، the researchers used the Ahearne et al. (2005) scale for empowered leadership. The study sample consisted of (418) middle school teachers، both male and female. The study concluded that school leaders tend to practice empowered leadership to a high degree. The two dimensions (showing confidence in high performance، independence، and removing bureaucratic restrictions) were (high)، and the two dimensions (enhancing the importance of work، and participation in decision-making) were (medium) among school leaders from the teachers' point of view. The results also showed statistically significant differences between the averages of teachers' responses regarding their assessment of the degree to which their leaders practice the empowered leadership style according to the differences in the variables of gender and years of experience. The study recommended the importance of allowing teachers to participate in school educational administrative decision-making، which makes them feel important and confident about their teaching performance.
