Authentic Leadership as an Approach to Achieving Competitive Advantage in Educational Institutions in Egypt

Abstract

The current research aims to utilize the approach of authentic leadership to achieve competitive advantage in educational institutions. This is done by presenting the theoretical foundations of authentic leadership in terms of its origin and evolution, the concept of authentic leadership and its importance, the dimensions of authentic leadership and the steps for its practices. It also presents the conceptual framework for competitive advantage in educational institutions, including the concept of competitive advantage, its characteristics, and its importance, the main indicators of competitiveness in educational institutions, and the dimensions of competitive advantage that can be achieved through the approach of authentic leadership. The research adopts a descriptive methodology suitable for the nature of the study and reaches a set of procedural suggestions to achieve competitive advantage for educational institutions in light of the authentic leadership approach. The most important of these suggestions include: enhancing self-awareness among educational leaders to achieve cost leadership, applying balanced treatment to support superior quality, promoting transparency in relationships to achieve differentiation, integrating an ethical perspective to achieve institutional flexibility, improving infrastructure, knowledge, and technology to support cost leadership, and developing an integrated competitive strategy based on authentic leadership, thereby achieving competitive advantage for educational institutions.
