Abstract

Numerous studies aimed to apply textual grammar standards to ancient and modern literary production, but - on the other hand - the theoretical and applied grammatical production of the proceeding scholars - especially the advanced grammarians - did not receive sufficient attention to give their books a new reading in the light of modern textual studies, So this study was conducted to compare between the two schools of thought - Basraian and Kufaian - a textual comparison. It aims to monitor the application of textual analysis among the Basraian and Kufaian scholars without being linked to a personality, being limited to a sect, or being confined to a specific type of literature. This research adopts the comparative descriptive analytical approach, and reached a set of results, the most important of which is that the Basraian and Kufaian schools established some grammatical rules based on a textual reading of authentic Arabic texts, and they applied the concept of standards for grammatical text, without using its terminology, and They relied more on the concept of cohesion, coherence , situationality and acceptability. They did not neglect to use the concept of the criteria of Intentionality, Informativity, and Intertextuality either. The followers of both schoolsof thought agreed on the same textual reading in some places, and differed to varying degrees in the other places. Their textual analysis resonated with those who came after them. The research recommends the necessity of tracking textual analysis among advanced and late grammarians, separately.
