Abstract

Article title: The effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy for improving the psychological flexibility of dependent on psychoactive substances.

Aim of the research: to identify the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy for improving the psychological flexibility of dependent on psychoactive substances. The research relied on the experimental method (quasi- experimental method) due to its suitability to the objectives and hypotheses of the research. sample of the research consists of (40) males depend on drugs, their age range from (30-35) years with an average age (31.90) and a standard of deviation (3.21) by using a battery of relapse indicators (prepared by Baoh, 2017) and a measure of psychological flexibility (Luoma, 2011) translated by the researcher by scale of socio-economic and cultural level (prepared by Mohamed Saafan and Doaa Khattab) with the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Program (prepared by the researcher). The results of the research revealed that there are statistically significant differences in psychological flexibility in its two dimensions (values and commitment, disengagement and acceptance) among those they are relying on psychological influential materials in favor of the post-measurement and the absence of differences in psychological flexibility between the post and follow-up measurements.
