Abstract

Abstract: The aim of the research was to identify the effectiveness of a program based on structured learning (TEACCH) in developing functional language performance in children with autism spectrum disorder, and to verify the extent of its continued effectiveness until the end of the follow-up period. The research sample consisted of (6) children with autism spectrum disorder, aged between (6-12) years. The research tools included the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale, fifth edition (translated by: Mahmoud Al-Sayed Abu Al-Nil et al., 2011), the Gilliam Estimated Scale for Diagnosing Autism Disorder by James Gilliam (prepared by: Mohamed Abdel-Rahman and Mona Hassan, 2004), the Functional Language Performance Scale for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (prepared by: the researcher), a program based on structured learning (TEACCH) to develop functional language performance in children with autism spectrum disorder (prepared by: the researcher). The research results reached the effectiveness of the TEACCH program in developing functional language performance in children with autism spectrum disorder, and its continued effectiveness until the end of the follow-up period.
