The Relative Contribution of Spiritual Intelligence in Predicting Happiness among High School Female Students

Abstract

This research drives at identifying the extent to which spiritual intelligence contributes to predicting happiness among high school female students. The research adopted the descriptive correlational method as it is suitable for the research objective and hypothesis. The sample consisted of (92) female students, the second grade in some secondary schools in Egypt for the academic year (2022/2023); their ages ranged between (16 - 18) years, with an average age of (16.54) and a standard deviation of (0.64). The research tools included the Spiritual Intelligence Scale for secondary school female students (by researcher) and the Happiness Scale for secondary school female students (by researcher). The research results indicated that the two dimensions of spiritual intelligence, self-esteem and possession of virtues and transcendence, contributed to predicting happiness among secondary school female students by 20.2% and 24%, respectively. The research also revealed four factors of spiritual intelligence: self-awareness, self-esteem, problem-solving ability, and possession of virtues and transcendence, as well as three factors of happiness: satisfaction, engagement in activities, and tranquility, as confirmed by the construct validity using factor analysis.
