Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of a religious counseling program in developing moral intelligence among the inmates of El-Rabie Foundation in Gaza Governorates and to identify the level of their moral intelligence. The study used the quasi-experimental approach. The sample consisted of (26) juveniles divided into two groups: experimental group and control group, each equally consisting of (13) juveniles of El-Rabie Foundation inmates in Gaza Governorate, aged between ( 15 and 17 ) years.
The moral intelligence scale (prepared by the researcher) was applied on the sample. The scale consisted of six main dimensions (Empathy - Conscience - Self-Control Respect – Tolerance - Fairness). The total number of items was (42). The scale had a continuum ranging from always to never. The researcher designed a religious instructional program consisting of (18) sessions, the duration of each of which was (90) minutes, three times a week.
The results showed the effectiveness of the religious counseling program in developing moral intelligence. Also, there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the control group and those of the experimental group concerning the levels of moral intelligence and the following dimensions (Empathy, Conscience, Respect, Tolerance). The differences were in favor of the members of the experimental group in the post-measurement. The results also proved that there were no substantial differences between the experimental group and the control group in the two dimensions of Self-Control and Fairness on the post-measurement.
