Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the relationship between altruistic behavior and the quality of work life among teachers of students with special needs. It also sought to discover the extent of differences in the degree of both altruistic behavior and quality of work life among these teachers based on gender (male, female). The study sample consisted of 60 male and female teachers from schools for the deaf and hard of hearing and schools for intellectual education in Shubr Khuit, Beheira Governorate, for the academic year 2022-2023. Their ages ranged from 35 to 50 years. To achieve the study objectives, the Altruistic Behavior Scale for Teachers of Students with Special Needs and the Quality of Work Life Scale for Teachers of Students with Special Needs were used, both developed by the researcher. The study results showed a statistically significant positive correlation between altruistic behavior and the quality of work life among teachers of students with special needs at the 0.01 level across all dimensions. There were also statistically significant differences between the average scores of male and female teachers in altruistic behavior and quality of work life, with the differences favoring females, where the t-values were statistically significant at the 0.01 level of significance.
