Abstract

The current research aimed to enhance kindergarten children's awareness of the importance of water and encourage them to contribute to conserving this vital resource. The researcher adopted the experimental one-group approach. The research sample consisted of (25) children, both male and female, in the second. level of kindergarten, aged (6-7) years. The researcher contained the following tools: a pictorial water awareness scale for kindergarten children (prepared by the researcher), a teacher observation card of kindergarten children's behaviors towards water (prepared by the researcher), and John Raven's Colored Progressive Matrices Test. After applying the research tools, the results of both pre- and post- measurement were analyzed using the appropriate statistical methods. The results showed statistically significant differences at the level of (0.01) between the average of the pre- and post-application scores of the research sample children on the pictorial water awareness scale for kindergarten children in favor of the post- application. The results also indicated statistically significant differences between the average of the research sample children's scores in the pre- and post-application on the teacher observation card of kindergarten children's behaviors towards water in favor of the post-application. The research results revealed the impact of using the cognitive acceleration strategy in developing kindergarten children's behavior towards water awareness.
