Abstract

The study aims to reveal the problems facing the marble and granite industry in Shaq Al-Thauban area in Cairo, where this industry represents an important source of national income as it is considered one of the promising industries that represent an added value to the national economy, in addition to that it is considered one of the operating-intensive industries in terms of the size of the labor force. The study also aims to monitor the threats facing the local labor force and the local investor in light of the foreign investor and labor replacement processes. The choice fell on the Shaq El-Thuban area, as it represents one of the most important areas for the production of marble and granite in Egypt. The applied importance of the research is represented in shedding light on the threats facing local labor and drawing attention to the need to adhere to the application of labor laws related to the proportions of foreign labor in foreign investment projects in Egypt. The study belongs to the descriptive studies, and depends on the qualitative analysis using the case study method as an appropriate methodology for the research subject, and on the evidence of interview, in-depth interview and observation as tools for data collection, and on informants and official documents as sources of data.
