Developing a proposal for the Mathematics Curriculum for the Primary Stage in Light of the Problems of Society to Develop Awareness of Contemporary Problems

Abstract
The research aimed to develop the mathematics curriculum for the upper grades of primary stage in light of the problems of society to develop awareness of contemporary problem,. the research sample was represented in (30) students from the sixth primary grade,. the research used the semi-experimental approach adopting experimental design with one group, with the use of pre-measurement method to perform the research sample, and the research explains how to prepare the proposed curriculum, and the standards on which the development of the elements of the curriculum is based (objectives, content, teaching strategies, activities and evaluation), as well as the procedures for making a student’s guide in the units of “ratio” and “proportion” and the teacher’s guide to teach the two units, as well as It clarifies the procedures for building measurement tools, which are: Testing the cognitive dimension of awareness of contemporary problems - Emotional dimension scale of awareness of contemporary problems - Behavioral dimension scale for awareness of contemporary problems, the results showed there statistically significant difference at the significance level (0.01) between the average scores of the research group in the pre- and post -application of the measurement tools and that the developed curriculum has achieved effectiveness in developing the dimensions of awareness of contemporary problems, and in light of these results, some recommendations were made, including: Inclusion of problems related to the student’s environment in mathematics books ..
