The reality of job embeddedness among public primary school principals in the city of Riyadh

Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the reality of job involvement among principals of primary schools in Riyadh, the obstacles to job involvement and proposals for its improvement. The study used the analytical descriptive approach, and the study sample consisted of (468) school principals, and the researcher used a questionnaire consisting of (41) statements within three axes. The results of the study showed that job involvement is available among principals of government primary schools with a very high degree, and its dimensions in order; The first dimension: Cognitive (perceptual) involvement ranked first as the highest arithmetic mean, followed by the third dimension: Behavioral involvement, and finally the second dimension: Emotional involvement, and they were all available with a very high degree. The study population agreed on the obstacles of job involvement among government primary school principals with a high degree. Among the most important of these obstacles were: weak financial and moral incentives given to school principals, increasing social pressures that challenge job involvement, duplication in issuing orders and directives during work. The study population agreed on proposals to improve job involvement among principals of government primary schools in the city of Riyadh with a high degree. The study recommended the necessity of defining the job description for all employees and announcing it within the school, and increasing the financial and moral incentives granted to school principals.
