The Psychological Dimension in Tamer Ibrahim's Horror Stories: Vision and Interpretation.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the psychological dimension of the fictional character in the horror stories in the two collections of stories "Tales of the Basement (2008 AD)" and "Tales of the Dead (2010 AD)" by the Egyptian writer (Tamer Ibrahim), and to identify the visions and issues included by the writer in his two collections of stories and orbits interpretation that revolves around the subjects of his narrative texts. The research seeks to study them psychologically in the light of what was presented by some studies of psychology and its theory depending on the psychological dimensions of personalities. It is certain that literature has benefited from many other scientific fields, especially the field of psychology and its modern and contemporary theories which reveals to us the motives and instincts of the characters, and the feelings and emotions of the human soul whether - positively or negatively -. These two collections of stories "Tales of the Crypt" and "Tales of the Dead" are classified as horror and suspense literature which deliberately presses on deep hidden areas of human consciousness. This is two collection of stories are full of many psychological features, describing turbulent human feelings and a sense of fear as an inner psychological experience that is highly subjective and private. This enhances the relationship between psychoanalysis and horror literature.
