Abstract

The phenomenon of women smoking is one of the negative phenomena in developing and developed societies. It is associated with economic, social, cultural and health damages that affect the life of the family and the individual. A smoker woman harms herself, her children, and even future generations. Hence, the study aims to detect the motives and effects of smoking on the female smoker and her family, and to present a proposed vision to combat the phenomenon of smoking in general and female smoking in particular. This required the use of the case study method, and the study was conducted on (25) cases using interview and observation. In light of this, the study reached a number of results, the most important of which is the prevalence of female smoking culture, represented in the presence of some friends and colleagues who practice smoking behavior, which makes them have a strong desire to participate in smoking cigarettes. The study presented several recommendations, including modifying the girls' ideas towards the concept of equality, keeping up with the times, personal freedom, and what smoking achieves in terms of satisfying the social and cultural aspects that prompted them to get used to smoking.
