Abstract

Abstract:
The study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of a program to develop self-empowerment for
mothers as an input to improve the expressive language of their children with learning
difficulties. The study relied on 20 mothers and their children with learning difficulties who
obtained the lowest scores on the phonological awareness scale, and the lowest scores on the
expressive language scale, whose ages ranged between (9-12) years old in the fifth grade in the
second cycle of a basic education stage at Al-Muhallab School for Basic Education in the
United Arab Emirates. The study applied the socio-economic level list (prepared by the
researcher and the supervising authority), the child behavior list for teachers (to sort cases of
learning difficulties) (prepared by Mustafa Muhammad Kamel, 2008), the Stanford Bennett
Scale - the fifth picture (prepared by Mahmoud Al-Sayed Abul-Nil, and others, 2011). ), the
measure of self-empowerment for mothers (prepared / Hamdi Yassin, 2017), the measure of
expressive language for students with learning difficulties (prepared / researcher), selfempowerment development program for mothers of students (prepared / researcher, and the
supervisory authority). The results of the study revealed: The effectiveness of a program for
developing self-empowerment for mothers as an input to improve the expressive language of
their children with learning difficulties.
