Abstract

Abstract:
This research aims at studying one of the works written by "Dr. Mounir Sultan" concerning an outstanding Arab poet, namely "Abū Tammām" in order to study Dr. Mounir's rhetoric and critical views in his poems and creative art. Dr. Mounir made an empirical and analytical study of Abū Tammām's poetry from two angles, namely the words and phrases. Through the words and phrases, he revealed the poet's aesthetic functions of all of his surroundings and his innovative words, meanings and artistic images. Then, this research is concerned with examining this study and Dr. Mounir's approach and method in studying Abū Tammām's poetry. This approach uncovered his ability to comprehend and aesthetically analyzing poetry by examining some of Abū Tammām's diwan of poems and poetic works and being accurate in approaching the poet's life and diwan, in addition to all the steps he made so that he can carry out an objective study. This research also reveals some of Dr. Mounir's rhetoric and critical views which other critics disagree with. Furthermore, the research involves a number of figures which Dr. Mounir evidently relied upon in examining Abū Tammām's poetry and disaggregating such figures on diverse topics.
