Linguistic Ability and Predicting the Social Skills of children linguistically retarded (Predictive Study)

Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the contribution of language ability in predicting the social skills of a sample of linguistically retarded children, as well as manifesting the difference in the social skills and language ability according to the economic and social level of children. The study depended on the descriptive correlative approach as it is more compatible with achieving the objectives of the study through the psychometric techniques that have been prepared in proportion to the sample. The sample consisted of (n=40) and their ages ranged between (5-7) years, where two scales prepared by the researchers were applied to them, the first was the language ability scale as the sample obtained a standard deviation 2.88, and the second was the social skills diagnosis scale where the sample obtained a standard deviation 6.17. The study found the contribution of language ability in predicting the social skills, as well as differences in the social skills and language ability according to the difference of economic and social level.
