Developing an Introduction to the Geographic Information Systems Syllabus in the Light of Some of the Arc Map Software Applications and Its Impact on Raising Awareness of the Dimensions of Geographical Planning of the Student-Teacher

Abstract

The research aims at identifying the ability of Developing an Introduction to the Geographic Information Systems Syllabus in the Light of Some of the Arc Map Software Applications, and its impact in developing awareness of the dimensions of geographical planning of the student-teacher. To achieve the goal of the research, the researcher administered the pre _ post research tool for measuring awareness of the dimensions of geographical planning on a sample of students in the Department of Geography at Al Aqsa University, consisting of (60) students, divided into two groups of (30) students each: the experimental group and the control group. The results of the research showed statistically significant differences at (α≤0.05) level between the average grades of the control group and experimental group in favor of the post application of measuring awareness of the dimensions of geographical planning as a whole and at each dimension individually, as well as, there are statistically significant differences at (α≤0.05) level between the average grades of the control group and experimental group in favor of the post application of measuring awareness of the dimensions of geographical planning as a whole and at each dimension individually. Therefore, the developed syllabus is appropriately effective in developing awareness of the dimensions of Geographical planning.
