Abstract

Study Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between mindfulness and self-compassion, in addition to examining the differences between the two variables of the study according to the different demographic variables: gender (male-female) and school type (public-private) among a sample of adolescents in the preparatory stage. Method and procedures: This study relied on the comparative, descriptive approach, and the study sample consisted of (80) male and female students, their ages ranged between (12-14) years, and their average age was (13.41), and the Mercy Scale was applied to them in particular (prepared by Hayam Saber Shaheen,2011) and a measure of mindfulness for adolescents in the preparatory stage (prepared by the researcher).
Results: The results concluded that there is a positive correlation between mindfulness and self-compassion, and also resulted in the presence of differences between the average scores of males and females on the scales of mindfulness and self-compassion as a total degree and as sub-dimensions in the direction of females, as it was found that there are statistically significant differences between the average scores of adolescents at the preparatory stage in public and private schools on the scales of mindfulness and compassion in particular as a total degree and as sub-dimensions towards adolescents in private schools.
