Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the ostracon No.57018 of Turin museum, which is part of a group of 27 Ostraca, all of which were found in the Valley of Queens during the museum’s mission in Egypt from 1903 to 1920, led by Ernesto Schiaparelli. K.A. Kitchen translated this Ostracon to Hieroglyphic and it was translated only to English without a transliterate in the fifth part of his encyclopedia of Ramesside Era. No one has published it. This Ostracon goes back to the Modern State of 20th family of king Ramsesses III where his name was mentioned on a cartouche. The other 26 Ostraca have gained the attention of archeologists: Jesùs López; Jaroslav Černý; Ernesto Schiaparelli; Shafik Allam; K.A.Kitchen.
The 27 Ostraca were from the non-literary texts; they could more precisely be categorized as administrative Ostraca. The texts found in this group include: statistics, lists of names of workers and their attendance sheets. As to the texts mentioned in the ostracon, the subject matter of this research, in includes the name of king Ramsesses III, his birth name, the name of his son and his surname. It was noted that the way of writing an ostracon in this period is different from writing in this time where the signs were not abbreviated and was similar to Hieroglyphic writings.
