Abstract

Schimmel is considered one of the few orientalists who defended Islam, as she devoted her life in the search and Discover the heritage of Islam, as she contributed a great role in correcting the image of Islam in the eyes of Westerners through her books, because most of her writings were about Islam and in defense of the Messenger .
Schimmel Had tried to modify the image of Islamic civilization - in the West - in terms of concepts and perceptions. She Had introduced to the Germans the Islamic civilization and corrected False conception and opinions about Islam by holding continuous lectures in various German cities and through her activities in various German media and through her extensive publications and translations of Islamic literature to german language Schimmel Had wanted to prove to the West that Islam is far from terrorism and backwardness, as she declared with clarity and force that Islam urges every Muslim male and female to seek knowledge and Thinking, so how then can it be claimed that it is labeled as backward? She also defended the Messenger (may God bless him and grant him peace) From the accusations against him, such as accusing him of being lustful. She does not deny that women did not enjoy all their rights in the medieval and modern ages in the Islamic East, but she does not attribute this
oppression to Islam, but rather to obsolete customs and old backward traditions
