Abstract

Abstract:
The present study aimed to discover the correlation between obesity and body image disorder in obese women. It also aimed to discover the age differences in obese women who suffer from body image disorder. The sample consisted of 60 obese women using the obesity scale and body image disorder scale. Their ages ranged from 25-40 years, and their weight ranged from 100 kg or more. The participants were housewives and had children. The sample individuals were divided into two groups: one that included women aged 25-32, and a second group that included those aged 33-40. To confirm the results of the research, the researcher used the comparative descriptive approach, which aims to collect accurate information and descriptions about psychological and mental activities and processes, as it describes what already exists and may help reveal facts and reasons as it describes the changes and does not predict their future state. This approach collects information about the current state of affairs with the aim of description and explanation. The research methods used were: Obesity Scale, Dr. Zainab Shukair - and the Body Image Disorder Scale, Dr. Magdy Desouky, and the results showed the following: the existence of a statistically significant positive correlation coefficient between obesity and body image disorder among obese women, and no statistically significant differences in body image disorder between the age group of 25-32 years old and the age group of 33-40 years old.
