Abstract

During this research, a topic of great importance to Walton was exposed, which was represented in the Arguments in the political and legal process, as the two fields together occupy great importance in the field of argumentation. Politics is the field in which peoples are ruled and led, and the law is the means through which society can achieve justice, which leads to the protection of stability and continuity within this society. Walton also focused on the most important fallacies associated with the use of arguments in these two areas, specifically The focus has been on the fallacy of attacking the person and the fallacy of resorting to authority and begging for emotion, all of which are fallacies related to relying on an external authority or manipulating the course of argumentative dialogue in order to evade the duties imposed by the pattern of arguments of persuasion, which is supposed to be the prevailing and general pattern in such fields. The most important commitment that each party resorts to committing this type of fallacy is the commitment to the Burden of Proof, a factor that Walton emphasized from the beginning and its importance to the safety of The integrity of the arguments, especially if this argument style falls under the persuasive argument style that is commonly used and spread in the political and legal field.
