The urban development and administrative division of Rashid city has passed through different stages of time since the first establishment of the ancient urban core, which proved that its origin dates back to the ancient Pharaonic eras until the Islamic period Middle Ages, which was the most important historical period in the emergence and prosperity of the city. There were a set of factors that contributed together in determining the trends of urban growth and development, whether it was natural, the most prominent of which was its location and growth along the Nile River, which arose at its outlet and was affected by geospatial factors as well as human factors, the most important of which was the political and economic situation of the city and the resulting spatial relations with the cities of the neighboring regions
