The effectiveness of a training program to develop self-management in children with hearing impairment

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a training program for the development of self-management in children with hearing impairment. The study relied on the semi-experimental approach, the training program was (the independent variable), and the self management (the dependent variable). The sample of the study consisted of (20) children with hearing impairment, whose ages ranged between (9-12) years and their intelligence coefficients ranged between (90-110) degrees, and the degree of their hearing loss ranged between (27: 55), where they were divided To two groups, one experimental and the other control. The study tools consisted of the Stanford Intelligence Scale, Fifth Image - and the Self-Management Scale for Hard of Hearing Children -And the measure of the socio-economic level of the family - and the training program for the development of self-management, which included 25 sessions aimed at developing the components of self-management (self-monitoring - self-evaluation - self-promotion - self-direction) in children with hearing impairments, and during which many techniques and various activities were used to achieve the goals of each session and continued The implementation of the program for a period of two months.
The results of the study showed the effectiveness of the training program based on the development of self-management in children with hearing impairment.
