Evaluation of Secondary School Students' English Spoken ‎Interaction skills in the light of Common European ‎Framework of Reference for Languages:‎ A Diagnostic and Remedial Study

Abstract

The purpose of the present study aimed at evaluating current situation of ‎spoken interaction performance of Secondary One Stage in the light of level ‎B.2 of spoken interactive illustrative descriptors in the Common European ‎Framework of References for Languages (CEFR). The study was divided into a ‎diagnostic study based on analyzing the EFL National Curriculum speaking ‎standards and student book in the light of CEFR spoken interaction scales. ‎And are medial study depended on designing suggested framework. The ‎participants of the study were sixty female students (30 experimental group ‎students – 30 control group students). The suggested framework was ‎administrated to the experimental group students in the second term of the ‎academic school year 2019 / 2020 at one of the governmental schools in Cairo. ‎Two instruments were administrated on the two groups pre / post spoken ‎interaction test and analytic rubric for spoken interaction. The results of the pre ‎‎/ post test indicated that the suggested framework was effective in enhancing ‎the experimental group students spoken interaction skills. Recommendations ‎and suggestions for further researches were provided.‎
