Abstract

Abstract
The research aims to expound the factors that lead to aged people exclusion from their families, the reasons of their placement in care institutions and their mechanisms of adaptation and integration into the new residence (elderly care institutions). This research answers a major question: Does the increased number of elderly care-institutions mean the Aged families' abandonment of their caring role towards the aged leading to their feeling of their social exclusion, or do the elderly care-institutions provide them with many services that contribute to their adaptation and social integration? The research is applied to (30) cases of Aged men and women in three different institutions.
The research concludes that There is a disparity between the institutions of the research community, according to the class dimension, as the cost of staying for older persons varies according to the nature of the institution, the region in which it is geographically located, and the stratified segments it represents; this is reflected in the form of accommodation, the means of care provided, the services provided by each institution, etc.
This research is part of a PhD thesis entitled: "Elderly in Egyptian Society between Exclusion and Social Integration" - a Field Study in Cairo.
