The Role of Electronic Media Campaigns in Raising Public Awareness of COVID-19 Risks A Field Study on a Sample of Users of the Official Facebook Page of the Ministry of Health and Population

Abstract

This study aims to identify the role of electronic media campaigns in educating the public about the dangers of the Coronavirus (Covid-19), the extent to which they follow the coverage of these campaigns, and their ranking in terms of awareness-raising importance and their impact on their attitudes. Proposals to develop them and raise their efficiency. The study is based on the Reliance on Media Theory Methodologically a descriptive approach was adopted using survey sampling, utilizing an electronic questionnaire administered to an available sample consisting of 417 individuals. This study concluded that the interesting method adopted by the media campaigns in educating the Egyptian public (regarding Covid-19) had a great impact on modifying some negative attitudes by following precautionary measures. The "We Protect Ourselves" and "Together _Trust" campaigns, launched by the Egyptian Ministry of Health, received a higher rate than other similar campaigns, as they are the most followed by the Egyptian public. The impact of these electronic media campaigns was evident in the response of a large percentage of the sample members of the Egyptian society to these campaigns during the Covid-19 epidemic, due to their novelty and positivity which were the most influential on the Egyptian public. There is a strong direct relationship between the degree of the public’s dependence on electronic media campaigns that raise awareness of their attitudes and motives A trend. Therefore, the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population must continue to implement such electronic awareness campaigns because of their effective impact on facing health crises.
